SILVIA FEJKA

Silvia has been advising state and local governments since 2013 and joined Michow Cox & McAskin LLP in 2018. She is passionate about helping local governments identify their goals and craft an approach to meet these needs. Silvia has a strong background in land use and public finance, and has advised clients regarding special district organization, real property conveyances including public easements, open meetings and open records laws, and governmental immunity, among other municipal issues. Her practice has also focused on public contracts, state law compliance for local governments, and economic development, and she has facilitated the completion of numerous bond issuances.

Before getting into private practice, Silvia worked for the State of Colorado devising a program for disbursement of federal funds after the 2013 floods in Colorado. She completed her undergraduate studies in architecture and planning and went on to advise clients in the Community and Economic Development Law Clinic at the Washington College of Law regarding local government law compliance and land use matters. During her time in law school, Ms. Fejka also worked at the Washington, DC, headquarters of the Environmental Protection Agency in the Air Enforcement Division, where she prepared cases for referral to the Department of Justice.

After graduation, Ms. Fejka conducted extensive legal research on all topics for law firms throughout the country during her time working at Westlaw, where she was also responsible for helping to train newly-hired research attorneys.
